Add-On Services

At Life Center of Galax, located in Galax, Virginia, we provide patient-centered care that goes beyond traditional approaches. We meet the unique needs of our patients by delivering personalized programming that combines evidence-based practices with holistic and spiritual elements. Those in our care can benefit from add-on therapies, acudetox, and faith-based programming.

Our Acudetox Services

At Life Center of Galax, we are pleased to offer acudetox, or acupuncture detoxification, as one of our holistic add-on services. Acudetox is a medication-free, noninvasive therapy that targets five distinct points in the ear to promote relaxation, energy balance, and overall well-being. It has shown promising results in reducing withdrawal symptoms, cravings, and distressful emotions that are often associated with substance use disorder recovery.

Patients who participate in acudetox as part of their individualized care plans typically receive services once a week. The procedure involves the gentle placement of five small, sterilized, disposable needles into specific sites on each ear and usually takes 30-45 minutes to take effect. Patients have the option of receiving acudetox services individually or as part of a group. Those who choose the group setting undergo the acudetox procedure together in a quiet and supportive environment.

After the acudetox procedure, patients can discuss and process their experience during daily home group or process group sessions. These sessions offer a safe space where patients can give and receive emotional support, reflect, and share their thoughts with others.

If you are struggling with fear or anxiety related to addiction recovery, our acudetox services may offer the relief and support you need to get on a path to sustained wellness. Faith-Based Programming

At our rehabilitation center, we recognize the importance of faith and spirituality to the healing process and provide patients with the option to participate in faith-based group therapy sessions as part of their individualized care. In faith-focused programming, we take a unique approach to substance use disorder treatment, integrating spiritual beliefs and practices to help patients make meaningful progress toward well-being.

Our faith-based group therapy sessions offer patients an opportunity to strengthen their faith, utilize it as a source of support on their recovery journey, and discover a sense of purpose and hope for the future. Engaging in spiritual practices, such as prayer, meditation, scripture reading, and mindfulness exercises, can help them develop coping skills and cultivate inner peace as they navigate the challenges of recovery. By enhancing their spiritual wellness, our patients can find strength, courage, and resilience to overcome obstacles and make positive changes in their lives.

Another key benefit of faith-based group therapy is that it can provide patients with a sense of belonging and community. Those who are struggling with substance use disorders may feel isolated and disconnected from others, but in these sessions, they can find a supportive network of peers who not only understand their struggles but also share their commitment to faith. This sense of community can be incredibly empowering and motivating, helping individuals stay dedicated to achieving their recovery goals.

We respect the diverse beliefs and backgrounds of patients and offer faith-based programming only as requested by our patients. Participation in faith-based group therapy sessions is entirely voluntary, and individuals are encouraged to choose the approach to recovery that aligns best with their values and preferences. This programming option is designed to complement traditional therapeutic modalities and offer an additional avenue for healing and growth for those who seek it.

Galax's specialty programs allowed me to receive an individualized treatment plan that helped me get back on track.
